Default Just happy he\'s in my game...

5 player home game. Typical to tight, slightly aggressive.

I get dealt AA in sb.

Fold, Fold, dealer (Mr. Bluff) raises, I re-raise,
hoping to isolate.

BB (Weak/Tight) calls 2 bets to my surprise.
Dealer Folds.

Flop: Q,9,2 rainbow.

I bet, bb RAISES. I've got him
on QQ,KK or AQ at this point, possibly 99. Not the type to
raise with a JT here. I call.

Turn: Q.

I check (probably a mistake, but I'm quite sure he's holding
at least one queen) he CHECKS!. I can't believe I'm getting
a free ride here if he has a queen. I put him on KK here.

River: 3.

I decide to check, with intention of raising, again probably
a mistake, but he checks.

I flip my bullets, he flips QJ offsuit.

I ask him the obvious How could pairing the queen on the flop
be good enough to raise me, but getting the 3rd Q on the
turn not be good enough for a bet?

His answer, "I got scared", whatever the hell that means.

1) Is there anything I should have done differently?
2) Did he play his hand correctly at ANY point?

He saved you several bets obviously but I think you were too passive as well. I'm 3 betting that flop and betting the turn. If he's still around I might check call the river but more likely I'm betting that too as he's hardly given me a reason not to.

You re-raise because you have the best hand and to get money in the pot, not to isolate. If the BB wants to call 2 cold with a vastly inferior hand, let him! More money for you!

When he raises you on the flop, you should be deciding whether or not to pop him back now or wait until the turn. It certainly seems like he has a big queen.

Too bad about the turn card. I would have bet the river. You lost the bare minimum here. It could have been a lot worse.

As for him, he played the flop well. Everything else he screwed up big time.

3-bet the flop, no reason to put him on a set yet. If he had QQ, he might have capped preflop.

On the turn, check is good.

The river play is tough, he played the hand so strangely. The only hand that makes sense to me at this point is JT, but your read was that he wouldn't play that way. I would check-call here, hope that he's bluffing.

There is your biggest mistake of the hand. Let him go on blissfully unaware that he played that hand awkwardly.

Other than that, 3-bet the flop. According to your read, you beat a lot more hands than you are losing too. More specifically, you beat: KK (6 ways) and AQ (12 ways). You lose to QQ (3 ways) and 99 (3 ways). 3 bet the flop and you will better find out where you stand right way.

Bet the turn (assuming he calls your flop 3 bet) and either fold or call down on your opponent, depending on your read.

I also like players in my game who get scared with their overpair AA and quickly go into check it down mode.
