Default other stud books

i'm noticing that everyone who gets recommended stud books is pointed to the troika of west's book, 7 stud for advanced players, and TOP.

though i've read those books and they're all worth reading, i can't help but wonder if this is only due to the lack of availability of other stud texts while hold 'em books are overflowing the market.

anyone here have opinions of other stud books, or is there just nothing else out there that introduces anything new after you've read west, sklansky, malmuth and zee?

Hi,

There are far more Hold'Em books available than stud books.

However there are other Stud publications available, but in all honesty.. they just aren't worth the read.

The Roy West book is bar far the best for the lower limits.
and the 2+2 book will take it from there.

The Theory of Poker is just the best damn poker book there is period. That book is the single greatest 30 bucks I ever spent in my life. I still STUDY that book regulally.

Hi,

There's a new 7CS book coming out called "7 Card Stud: Turning home game chumps into Casino Killers"(or something like that) by Ashley Adams that you might want to take a look at. Has anyone read it? Reviews?

Default Stud Books Galore

Konstantin Othmer's book 'Seven Card Stud Poker' which originally appeared under the title 'The Elements Of Seven Card Stud' is rated higher than SCSFAP by at least one reviewer. Mason Malmuth has reviewed the original edition in GT&OT and thought little of it but the newer edition he thinks is worthwhile reading if you can separate the wheat from the chaff.

Aside from Konstantin Othmer, the Seven Card Stud section in Supersystem shoud not be neglected. It is the chapter that has stood up best to the test of time. Furthermore, Mike Caro has written on 7stud - some of it mixed but it should be checked out. There is also a book by a chap called George Percy entitled 'Seven Card Stud: The Waiting Game' that gets mentioned in relation to beginners. Finally, Mason Malmuth's Poker Essays voll I-III are aimed at both Hold'em and Stud players according to the blurbs on their fronts. You should check these three books out.

Yes, with Hold'em being so much more popular than any other poker game there are more good Hold'em books than 7stud books, just as there are more bad Hold'em books than 7stud books.
