Default tax on winning

Last week , my friend has won 5000$ in a slotmachine while she was in Atlantic city . So , they have took a tax of 30% + 3% ( its for casino employees or something like that ) . She's canadian citizen , so she's not suppose to pay a US 'tax , so , i'd like to know if anybody know what is the way to do to take that money back ( 1500$ ) .

Thanx for answers

i think all foreigners get 30% held unless its from an exempt country. the only way to get it back is to file a return. providing she lost money back gambling in that year. best to see her accountant.

You' have to be able to prove your losses.

Did you use a comp card furing these losses?
