A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

check - bet - call

8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I check through

I fold to his bet

Is turn OK? What rivers do we call then?

if I check the turn in this spot its because ive already given up, so there isnt any river card that comes where I will call a bet. If there was, then a turn bet is a much better play (unless of course he is very aggresive, but there is no read here so im assuming your typical player).

It feels weak tight to give up here, but the pot is still pretty smallish, youve got 2 of the cards for likely gutshot combos, and its much more likely he has an A or K or 8 than a flush draw or something, that giving up prolly isnt bad.

I bet the turn if I think that the villian has a chance of only having a pair of 8s or worse. Since that only applies to the types of players that peel a lot and fold a lot of turns, I won't bet the turn that often. You didn't supply a read along with this so you'll have to decide. If I check turn, then folding river is correct I believe.

A queen? Or is a raise in a totally different category?

FWIW, I would take your same line. Smells like a whiffed turn CR by villain.

There's a chance he was calling you on the flop with a flush draw, but the most likely things he was calling with are now all beating you once that 8 hits. That's a good check. Just in case you felt like calling that river bet, the flush came in, so folding is good.
