I thought about these games, but none of them are really great in chunks of 20 minutes. The strategy game request is especially difficult to give, because a lot of them require you to have at least an hour to devote per play.

Your average Warcraft III game takes 30 minutes. That's playing 2 vs. 2 on Battle.net. Blizzard designed it for speed rather than slow build strategy.

A couple games that come to mind :

StarCraft
Counter-Strike

Both aren't exactly great for 20 minute intevals, but you should be able to fit in a game of SC in 20 minutes if you play a money map.

The only downside of playing just 20 minutes of Counter-Strike is it's hard to get into a good groove and you spend a lot of time dead if you suck at the game.

Good luck trying to play only 20 minutes. If I spent the same time grinding it out on the tables, I'd be a millionaire.

"Master of Orion 2" is the most addicting strategy game I've ever played.

And it's turn based so you can stop playing at any moment. Perfect for work.
