Default Baseball pitching coach poll

I'm definitely a Braves fan, so this colors my opinion. A friend of mine says that Mel Stottlemyer (sp?) is better.

I say no way.

Settle the bet, OOT.

danke.

I think Jaret Wright's body of work over the past year and a month gives you quite a bit of ammo.

I too am a huge Braves fan so, whatever, but the 13 straight division championships have been won because of 2 reasons,
1. coaching
2. pitching

The answer is obvious, Rockin Leo!

There have been multiple studies in the past few months, and Leo's the only current pitching coach to actually affect pitcher performance in any significant way - by knocking off .5 ER off of pitchers.

Could all just be a combination of luck, good defense, and the right pitchers, but I doubt it.

My knowledge base isn't extensive enough to show what effect a pitching coach has on performance, but it's hard to believe there is a better one than Mazzone.

I can name a slew of pitchers who were superb under his tutelage and average before or after. I'm hard pressed to find the opposite.

Baltimore's 2003 ERA: 4.70
Baltimore's 2004 ERA: 4.76

When did he take over?
