At what point does a pot become large?

A pot is large when it's worthwhile to put in an extra bet or raise in order to increase your chances of winning the pot.

That should clear everything up.

I usually decide a pot is large when I have almost no chance of winning it. That way I can still justify a call.

"The pot was too big to fold".
