Default Tipping the dealers

I am curious as to how much each person tips dealers. Is there an unwritten rule? I normally tip $1 per pot if a huge pot I may tip $2. What do all of you tip generally and why? Am I tipping too much too often and giving too much money away or what?

I play 3/6 at B&M and I usually tip about 3% of the pot. This is usually between 1-3 dollars ($1 if the pot is $30 up to $3 if the pot is $100). I usually won't tip if the pot is under $20.

I see people tipping around the same amount as me or a little more at my limit. Occasionally you see non-tippers. At higher limits people I've noticed that people are generally more stingy and tip very small amounts ($1 is a standard tip at 8/16 at my casino). A lot more non-tippers at 8/16 too.

You'd have more luck getting this type of question answered in the "B&M Cardrooms" forum. I did a quick search in that forum for tipping and found this discussion

I really wish dealers had the luxury of not dealing to players who piss them off. IMO, you are tipping the dealer for being quick and competent. If you have personal problems with him, don't take it out on his income.

Umm, tipping is not manditory. I don't have to tip at all if I do not want to. If someone is acting like a dick I am not going reward their behavior by giving them money. The same goes for my waiter in a restaurant. I usually tip between 15% and 20% percent, but if a waiter is rude I have no problem reducing or even elimiating their tip.

I give dealers or waiters the benefit of the doubt, but if they are total dicks they should not be tipped.

I tip $1 per pot. If the dealer is EXTREMELY good I tip two. If he let me sit down ahead of the list i'll tip extra on the first pot I win.

If they are incompetent I tip 0.
