Risk of ruin applies to all gambling ventures.

It is the chances of you busting based on all the available information.

If you are offered a coin flip for all of your money but you are getting 10-1 odds, your ROI is huge, but your risk of ruin is still 50%

It basically allows you to set your bankroll size based on the risk you are willing to accept of blowing your entire bankroll.

You can use this tool to figure out what your risk of ruin is for various bankroll sizes and projected ROI: http://www.bol.ucla.edu/~sharnett/po.../rorcalc2.html
