Need Sound Card Help

I'm not too up-to-date on sound cards as I haven't bought one in about 4 years. I bought a SB Live 5.1 back in the day when it first came out and used that for many years.

I got a new computer and just went with Dell because I didn't feel like putting one all together. I "thought" I'd be able to just deal with the onboard but it blows. So I need a new sound card.

I would just throw in my old Live 5.1 card but the software isn't XP friendly. The software on their site to download for XP users eliminates many audio options so it's almost useless.

I'm looking for something that's nice with audio options, sound great but not make my [censored] bleed spending a fortune. I can just go with value because I don't care about all that software. Bring on the suggestions!
