Default Quick Nexgen Review

Someone in a another thread asked for a review but there were so many non-responses, I figured I'd put it up here. To give you a bit of background - I currently own 300 of the diamond type chips and 1200 of the pro las vegas style. I also have played with or have samples of actual Paulsons, chipcos and Nevada Jacks, dice and some of the blue chips out there.

So here we go. For a cheap chip, I don't think you can do much better than the Nexgens. They have a nice feel - a tad slippery - although they stack remarkably well - not too hard and not too soft although they can be damaged. I really like the mold - it appears top notch. The colors are nice and subtle - I got the whites, greens, blacks and reds. They are perfect for labels and I indeed got 500 and matching labels from lynbark to make my own custom set - I am very happy with how they turned out. The sound - just ok - much, much better than all the other metal insert chips out there but not as good as the real thing. They are fine for tricks as well - I can easily shuffle stacks of 10.

Really, these are nice and I am considering getting rid of my Pro Vegas and buying more. The only flaw is that they are almost too heavy - a tad lighter and they would be nearly perfect. For the price, however, you can't go wrong.

I ordered samples with the idea of doing custom labels.(Eventually dicided to go with another set of chips.) Overall the Nexgens are very good for the money. They tended to feel "soapy" to me, however, if that makes any sense.

Yes.

I compared them to those 13g "Casino" chips that I was easily about to gouge with a fingernail...

I think that Nexgens would be great for someone on a tighter budget.

If all you are using are WHITE, RED, GREEN, and BLACK you'll have a great-looking set. BLUE looks good. Purple for some reason looks 'fakey' to me... and the yellow is the weakest link.

I was the one who asked for the review, so thank you. The only other questions I have are can you hear the metal insert when playing and I also own some of the pro vegas chips, do you know of any place that sells slugs of these chips in different colors then the ones posted thusfar.

With regard to the Vegas - no, I haven't seen any other than the standard colors you see everywhere. As for the sound of the nexgens - it definately is not the clink of the other metal inserts out there. It doesn't sound like the clays either. It is a definite clank sort of sound with only a hint of the metal, but really, not metal either. I know that probably doesn't help. There is someone on a thread that actually had a linked audio file with the sound of chips clashing together. They don't sound bad, but aren't perfect either.

Thanks, not perfect is no big deal, my only concern is that they aren't like droping coins into the pot (like the 11.5 gram chips are)
