Classic!
[ QUOTE ] For now, Minnesota regulators are not wavering from their hard line on Texas Hold 'em, even while acknowledging it will be difficult to keep a lid on it. "It's the soup of the day. It's very popular," said Frank Ball, director of Minnesota's Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division. But, he said, "It's not gin rummy. It's not 500. It's not hearts. Those are all games of skill. This is a random game, and it's a gamble." [/ QUOTE ] See the whole article here: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...er_predicament |

I hate people who make statements without ever looking into the facts. I think his email address is
frank.ball@state.mn.us perhaps we should all write a letter to Mr. Ball. |

Minnesotans unhappy about this should call Mr. Ball and explain the situation to him or his secretary. His number is finable by a twenty-second google search.
Stay in touch with your elected and appointed governmental officials to make sure they are doing the peoples' business. |

My initial post (which I just deleted) was ill thought out. I jumped the gun -- I thought this guy was just a commentator and not a govt official.

I agree Greg J, we should correspond with intelligent non-threating dialogue, anything else would just amplify people's perception of poker / poker players.

Whatever you do, never threaten a government employee acting in his official capacity, because it is usually a felony.

I guess that's OK (and not a threat to the dumb unwashed masses that this guy is trying to nanny) because the state gets a cut of it. |

What makes it really silly is that they are trying to stop zero buy-in tournaments for things like hats and teeshirts. What are they trying to protect people from? Having their feelings hurt?
