Default Lost $200 last night and made 5 cents tonight -- yeah

5 cents a day.

Only 4000 more days to go and I make my $200 back. Isn't life easy.

I think your main problem is that you are concerned w/ the wrong goal, namely your short term results. You don't concentrate on playing well, you are just looking on the fluctuations of your bankroll. Additionaly you may have some problems w/ your self-esteem. This mix leads you to a kind of perma-tilt. I know what I am talking about, I've been there!
Besides the more technical literature that has been recommended to you by others, I strongly advocate to get a copy of "Inside the Poker mind" by John Feeney. The emotional part of Poker and how to handle it, is described in detail and it really helped me *a lot*. I reread the tilt chapter at any time I get in to any kind of emotional trap.
Get a break from the tables, do yourself a favour and spend 2 weaks at the books and then return as a more thinking and disciplined player and be concerned about playing well. The bankroll will take care of itself.

Ok thanks everyone. I can't see that picture. I just get a red x for some reason.

I made $25 tonight. I'm not kidding. It's better than nothing. I'm going to stick to the minor leagues for a while which is what I should have done but I wanted to see if I could hang with the .25/.50 NL tables at party and I guess I can't or it seems that I can't.

What I don't understand is that if everyone is playing near perfect poker then how am I to make money ?

For example, I played .05/.10 games tonight and cleaned up and nearly tripled my buy-in in about 3 hours. I know why that happened. People making bonehead plays. One play was so unbelievable that I really don't understand what they could have been thinking.

You go on a Party Poker .25/.50 6 max or full table and you definitely get more folds and no one makes as many mistakes. That means I have to play nearly perfect to win. BTW, I never gave a full table of $25 NL a real chance. Also, there is something to that 50 BB stack that they give you at Party. I almost feel like I'm all-in on every play. I think maybe that is why I play so poorly. I don't know. On this other site, I have rarely lossed. I'm going to stick to this site for a while. I am so tempted to move up again but we will see what I think and how I do. People make so many mistakes at this level that it is almost possible to win every day I think. I have "Theory Of Poker" "Small Stakes Hold'em", Hold'em for Advanced Players, etc etc....I have read a little from each one but it is very boring reading and to me , it doesn't really help my game that much. I think I do well at the mathematics of it , thus, my win tonight at the low levels but the psychology of it is why I lost in 6 max at Party I think. People doing wierd things. I really don't know.

Anyone who has read some of the books listed. What did you get out of them ? I know what I got out of Winning Low Limit by Lee Jones and Internet Texas Hold'em by Hilger but what about the others. Those two books taught me fundamentals and about belly buster straight draws and odds.

Get off the 6 max tables and get on the full ring tables.

Oh and play tight.

I think the problem is that you care about the money. Only when it really means nothing to you can you play correctly.

EDIT: Tilt's advice is gold. If you can't see mistakes at that game ( there are so many of them it's scary ) then you need to switch up games and come back later.

Wow. Near perfect poker at Party. And now pigs are flying and hell is frozen over.

Seriously, as you move up levels you will find that the mistakes other players make are more subtle than calling your open push with 24o. They involve playing draws out of position, being over aggressive with TPTK, overpaying preflop without implied odds, getting tilted when they get outplayed, getting involved with dominated hands, etc.

You should stick to full ring at first where you can learn effective ABC poker.

If you insist on playing 6-max, remember the simple adage: If you can't spot the sucker at the table within 10 minutes, you are the sucker. Find another table if you are not observing mistakes.
