Default Hand vs PhilHellmuth

This still made me feel good, better than it should.

This happened a while ago.

2/4 Limit Omaha 8/b.

beavis68: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] a [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Pre-flop:

vaxumgax folds. Dogger2000 folds. PhilHellmuth
raises to $4. Shingen calls. Stougaard calls.
A10100101001 folds. xgetlostx folds. DB Scooper
folds. beavis68 calls.

The great Phil Hellmuth raises, so I figure he has A2 at least, he may have me totally over a barrel, but my hand is fairly strong, and could win a big pot/

Flop (board: t [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ):

beavis68 checks. PhilHellmuth checks. Shingen
checks. Stougaard bets $2. beavis68 calls.
PhilHellmuth calls. Shingen calls.

I most likely should have folded right here, but I have a lot of backdoor chances.

Turn (board: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ):

beavis68 checks. PhilHellmuth checks. Shingen
checks. Stougaard checks.

OK, they are probably all on low draws.

River (board: T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]):

OK, the board bricked-up. I am sure these guys are on low draws and I know Phil is going to try to steal it here.

beavis68 checks. PhilHellmuth bets $4. Shingen
folds. Stougaard folds.

Great everyone folded!

beavis68 raises to $8.
PhilHellmuth folds. beavis68 is returned $4
(uncalled).

Hand #1118502-5635 Summary:

$1.50 is raked from a pot of $33.
beavis68 wins $31.50.

This was fun! Closest I will ever come to that silly rounders moment.

Did you have it Beav?

Sorry champ, I don't remember. - UGH - don't hate me.

Heh, nice steal. I love when O8 bluffs work, They usually do in that situation, ie. when you put everyone on low draws.

That is the only one I have ever pulled off, the funny part is, it may not have been a bluff, Ts and 4s may have been the best hand.

Beavis - It was not a bluff. Tens over fours with an ace kicker was most likely the best hand.

What you did was pick off a bluff. And that was a good read and a fine play.

However, I think you do better by just calling. If it is a bluff, your raise will not get called. If it's not a bluff, you'll at least get called and will lose at least one extra big bet.

Only if Phil bets with trips and then plays weak, do you profit vrom the bluff. I think Phil checks trips here, but may bet. But if he does bet trips, I think he calls the raise.

Thus picking off the bluff was excellent, but raising was not.

Just my opinion.

His hand was not tens over fours it was tens over eights with an ace kicker. So most likely he was splitting with somebody else I wouldn't be surprised if he was splitting with Helmuth. I think this was easily a bluff.

Yads, two from your hand, 3 from the board. He can't play the two pair on the board.

You are correct Buzz, it was a power play and I wanted to make him fold. I was only playing the game because Phil was there.

And these is always a chance he had A255 or something.

But I agree with you, and I actually was thinking more about what he had than what I had.
