Blinds were getting huge, just a preflop battle on the final table.

Hung around for awhile. Moved over the top of someone's min-raise with A8o when it was 5-handed. He almost folded, but at the last second called with A9o and I was gone.

5th place, not a bad pay day though. Thanks for all the well wishers that came out to watch.

Thanks for saying so. I couldn't believe it when it happened.

With about 40 people left, I had a very nice stack, about 24k. Get AA UTG, blinds 500/1k. I open for 3000. All fold except SB who calls. Flop is KT8. SB bets 1000. I push (have him only slightly covered). He thinks and thinks, then calls and turns over AJo ?!?! Turn is a ugly Q. River is a meaningless A to rub it in.

Then I called an all-in from a short stack with AQs in the BB. Short stack has 99 and doubles through me, leaving me with 221 chips (after posting the small blind). Somehow, I managed to win about 5-6 more coin flips (had the worst of it a couple times) and get a playable stack.

Was a short stack all the way until the final table, but by that time the blinds were so huge there was ZERO flop play. Kinda sucked, because I felt like I could outplay many of those players post-flop.

But I'm very happy to have survived my bad beat and take 5th. I hadn't cashed in the past 9-10 MTTs I played in, so it was a great confidence builder. Took a break, then came back and crushed some NL cash games too.

Now if I could just get my first $100-150 buy-in MTT win...
