LOL

The discussion just got more interesting as one of the hero's buddies claimed the hero's pre-flop call of the raise was absolutely correct because, and I quote, "he only had to call $575 into an over $3K pot when he was at worst 6:4 dog."

That is interesting math to say the least.

Personally, I'm not even trying to limp in with that hand. I'm drawing to a middle flush and probably a second best straight. Wouldn't even think of calling the raise.

stags14-

Flop play is perfect.

Turn play is also perfect since hero is closing the action and has odds to draw to the gutshot (assuming hero is willing to occasionally go broke when his gutshot comes in and he loses to a boat). If hero is not willing to take his chances with the boat, he should fold regardless of position.

I probably push on the river since MP2 obviously does not have a boat and BB will pay off with trips much more often than he kills you with 66 or A6 for the slowplayed boat. Moving on with <4000 doesn't excite me at this point so I'm going for broke.

Preflop: I'm loose enough to limp this occasionally at some tables given the number of limpers and the button, but calling the raise is probably bad even with all the callers. You just don't flop a miracle often enough (or have opponents play their hands poorly enough that you back into a winner) to justify the 575 with only 8000 in your stack. Implied odds on the 200 with an 8000 stack are borderline (at best) but the 575 cuts your implied odds too much. But you knew that last part...

Later,
Che

horrible call preflop but I was just in a PLH tourney where i caught AK on button raised the pot which was massive bc there where like 6 limpers and got called...5 6 k falls....
...i hope yu guys see where this on is going.

he called with 56 suited against only one opp with 17% of his stack and out of postion...

This play is even worse WOW

obviously preflop its absolutely terrible. after that, the flop and turn plays look good to me, turn he's getting 10:1, and assuming he's reading that no one has a boat, huge implied odds on the river if he hits. river looks weak. he just seems like your typical weak calling station, nothing out of the ordinary there.

Not sure what level of tourney this is, but it seems like (if theres a guy playing like this in the field), the BB might have been better off just playing his hand straightforward instead of trying to get fancy, since with as many opponents as there were in the field, he'd probably end up getting paid off with any weaker ace or so, and he probably could have knocked out the "hero" before the turn with a bet, or even after the turn with a somewhat larger bet.

Preflop limp is fine Preflop call is loose and probably incorrect.

Flop, perfect.

Turn, perfect.

River, good. I think we can debate ad nauseum wheteher he should raise the river. Calling and raising are both good options. If you raise you better know what you are going to do with a reraise from either player though.

Bottom line: He made 1 loose play. Not horrible, and not brilliant.
