Default Preflop question

I know pre-f stuff is not supposed to be worth the time discussing but I don't care. What should I do here?

Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, MP1 folds, Hero...?

And why?

What's the field like? Open limping in middle position with this hand might not play so well at an agressive table, but if you're usually seing the flop for 1 bet I'd probably limp.

i fold this as a default play unless I have a good table read. You do not want to see the flop for 2 bets since it will probably only be 3-way if its raised. if its unraised, it may only be 4-way.. although you may be holding the lone Ace.

The table was actually decent. Most hands were about 3-4 handed and people made good raises pre-f. I'd say at least 50% of the hands were raised pre-f. I'd expect to be raised about 30% of the time open limping from middle position here, even by the blinds.

If that's the case then I would either raise myself or fold

Fold, because the hand is -EV if played in this spot, so it makes more sense to fold.

Then I'd fold.

Me too.

By the way, preflop questions are fine on this forum. We are all here to improve our game after all, and you can't be a winning player without playing at least reasonably well preflop.
