Re: 88 Standard?
Call me weak, but I'm probably check-folding the turn. If it checks thru, I bet the river if it's a heart and fold to a raise and check-call any other card.

Nice played. Usually do the same. Bet river as well. He can fold JJ-KK.

You were 3-bet by a player in the BB. Two overcards came on the flop, including an Ace. You know how difficult it is to get somebody to fold a better hand in this game. Fold. |

I cannot wait for you to stop playing those other games like 7stud and O8 and NL since they are turning you into a weak-tight softie! I was shocked when I read that Mid-High post with KQ and at first you were leaning towards calling KQ instead of 3-betting... THAT'S NOT THE NATETHALAG I KNOW. |

You were 3-bet by a player in the BB. Two overcards came on the flop, including an Ace. You know how difficult it is to get somebody to fold a better hand in this game. Fold. [/ QUOTE ] Alright, a more serious response: 1. I feel like it's actually getting easier to get people to fold in this game. Plus, I **feel** like my style of play affords me a few spots here and there to make plays at pots such as these because of my general level of tightness. I also predict that within 4-6 months from now we'll see the revival of the SUPERLAGS in this game who run over these tables again and do well for awhile until people once again adjust and kill them off. That's a whole 'nother topic, but that's how I feel about the current status of 10/20 6-max and where I see it going, based on the general direction of this game and what it would take to beat a game going in this direction. 2. The pot is reasonably big. My raise WILL take BB off 99, and it might take him off a few other hands I'm winning against. This pertains to #1 and an assessment of my table image. Maybe I overestimate the extent people are paying attention to my play. 3. I've a guy who cold called me PF and now if I raise the flop bet, I give him another chance to cold call and make it very, very hard for BB to do anything besides play the rest of the hand predictably. When BB folds, what reason do I have to believe, so far, that the cold caller has anything but KQo or pocket twos? |

Re: 88 Standard?
Fair enough. If you have a good enough grasp on the table conditions to believe that this play is profitable, then I'll trust you. I just don't want people to think that plays like the one you made here, or for that matter in the 33 hand, are "standard", as in fact I think they're substantially -EV if you don't have the judgement to pick your spots carefully.
BTW, stud rocks. |

This thread will be complete when El Diablo comes along and says "plays like this are the reason players like me can earn 3BB/100 or more in these games."
