I seem to do this so rarely when the pot is 3-way or more. Is it not a common play in the family pots? When I am aggressive on the turn, I tend to value bet everything on the river.
I'd appreciate if some prototypical examples can be posted, contrived or real. this was one hand I found by searching: example 1 |

I think the problem is that so rarely do you want a free showdown in these micro games. Usually, betting for value is almost always the right thing to do. Also, wanting the free showdown means that you are in the game with a questionable hand, something that shouldnt happen too often. However, if you arent already, you shouldbe reading the small stakes posts, and you will see the occasional example there.

I think this hand from another thread is a reasonable example of where it may have been a good alternative.
A KQ hand I also tend to agree that at this level, you should probably just go ahead and bet much more often than check behind. The main place you wouldn't is in a hand like above, where you think you are probably behind but you aren't sure and have lots of outs to catch up if you are. |
