Default Psychological advantages of bonus hunting

I like to think of myself as a grinder, trying to extract every possible penny when ahead, and lose the least when behind. If I start thinking, "I am playing poker," or "I am a poker player," my final goal - making $ - becomes blurred. If I bonus whore, I start and complete several cycles of griding with an immediate goal, and my winrate is probably double what it is when I'm just playing with rakeback. I just really noticed this tonight. Unfortunately, the Party rakeback games are much softer, but I seem to have some kind of affinity for the structure and efficiency of whoring and also some kind of "PartyNoia." To be honest, instead of giving up on Party, I think I might try to conquer this "block." Sorry about this. I know it probably sounds nuts.

You're not crazy at all. I think a lot of us feel the same way.

As your ratio of (bonuses)/(poker winnings) gets smaller and smaller, the feeling gets less and less IMO.

Bonus whoring is a great way to play online poker because it trains you correct mental discipline for playing poker:

-Every hand played is valuable, regardless of whether you win or lose.
-You set a goal to play to x number of hands.
-You get used to earning x number of dollars and your poker winnings and losses are given less thought, because you are focussed on the bonuses.

etc.

The monthly Crypto bonuses are a good way to go.

Do you also find yourself thinking: "I'm a machine"?
