Default KEM Now Just Another Brand

Last night I sat in a (now) rare session at my local B&M. Annoyed at the 'cupping' of one of the decks, I had a close look at the Ace of spades. The card read 'KEM', but also 'U.S. Playing Card Company'.

You can now file KEM along with Bicycle, Bee, Aristocrat, and etc.

Not that that's such a bad thing I guess. They're just not KEM's any more. So that's who the buyer was.

Glad I bought my set a year ago.

*sigh*

That's really a shame.

Time to start buying up some of the old stock on EBay.

Does this mean they won't make the old style Kem cards anymore?

Can anyone post a link to someone selling them, or to the manufacturer's product page? (it may be too early for that)

I knew US Playing Card bought out Kem, but all reports I read were that production would not be back up until at least February of next year.

Perhaps they are up for casino orders, but nothing for the public until then.

http://www.chessset.com/kemcards1.html

Pokerchips.com used to sell them also, as did others
