Default Online PL

I noticed a few threads about online PL games. I am surprised--while I don't worry too much about reasonably low limit online games being cheated, I would worry a great deal about PL. It is almost the perfect game for collusion, as so much of it depends on building a pot. Two people working together could have a huge advantage. Just a thought.

I agree. Collusion should be a major concern when playing pot limit online. I would say your odds of facing collusion at some point in that game are around, say, 95%.

I have been tempted to buy-in and try the CCCPoker game but each time I talk myself out of it. It is simply too big a target for colluders. Sitting down at that table would likely be paramount to taking on two or three teams at a time.

Hell, colluders are playing all over on Paradise Poker as low as 5-10 and maybe lower. This is well known. Why would a POT LIMIT game be free of them?

Although, I have to say, I have observed the CCCPoker game now and then and it looks fairly soft. I see lots of players playing limit poker at the pot limit table. Juicy.

See, now I'm leaning towards trying it! I'll talk myself out of it in a minute...

If they are colluding then they are pretty bad at it!

I agree with Toffeeman - nothing suspicious looking yet, after a couple of weeks play. The CCC site is at least partnering with a real casino in Europe, although who knows how much that means. In any case, since there is not any big bet poker near to me, I figure it is worth risking a few hundred. What's that saying about even if it is crooked it's the only game in town :-)

And it would be fine with me if all the guys who post here never try it.

Default What about time outs?

A big concern I have with online PL games is people timing out when facing a pot size bet. They can't stop people from doing it in limit games, so how can they stop it here?

As a past poster in this forum sayed, collusion is a big problem but there's another issue: a player who has won a big pot (or just a good one) could leave the table and rejoin the same table later with the minimum buy-in (not risking his chips won as the nature of PL dictates)

i have been playing on CCCpoker.com for about 3 weeks now. i havent seen anything wrong in the game. one person did time-out on a big bet (he lost the pot). the floorman watching the game took away all his time-outs forever. he also recieved a warning that he would be banned if there was any more trouble. i thought that was a the right thing to do. i was surprise they did this since they only have a few games going at any given time.

As a by-the-way how does this collusion work? I just accepted that colluders can get a huge advantage but as I thought about it I realised that I couldn't see how.

The thing that gets me, particularly at pot limit, is if I'd bet me whole stack on a losing hand into one person why would I be more likely to do it into two?

Forgive my naivety but I just don't see it

My concern (with no experience, just a thought) is that if one member of a colluding team gets a monster hand, his friend can help him build a pot by raising/re-raising him. A few early bets would be enough to make a big difference, and would be hard to track--for example, the friend raises on the flop, and then folds. This would put the monster hand in a good position, able to make a significant bet, either to shut you out or to take more of your money. This is different from limit poker, where the worst that can be done to you is a few small/large bet, here it is the pot. Done well, it could completely change the game.

For those of you playing, of course, good luck! Keep your eyes open.
