Party 5/10 game. Decent, not great.
Folded to the sb who raises. The sb (I am 90% sure he is a 2+2er) is Taggy and steal raises with some regularity (he open raised after posting in CO with K4 earlier) I would assume the sb is aware that I am tight and at least somewhat aggressive, but we have not played tons of hands together--I would guess a couple hundred total. I have K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in the BB and 3-bet. SB caps and I call. Flop: 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] SB bets, I call Turn: J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] SB bets, I raise, sb calls. River: T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] SB checks, I check. |

I can't see anything I'd do differently, especially if SB is aware that he's been stealing with regularly and so you'd play back at him with less than normal.
Looks like a nice hand to me. Rob |

I don't think I like the turn raise. You let him get away from his overcards cheap plus you have to call a 3-bet getting 11:1 on your 5-outer.
If he then checks the river, you bet and he'll likely call with a big ace. If he bets again, you call. You pick up the same number of bets when ahead and lose less when behind. Also, the risk of a cheap card is minimal since you may have him reverse dominated with your king. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think the size of the pot is right on the line as far as wanting him to fold his overs, if he has 2 live ones. But since I hold a K, that really only leaves AQ as a hand he might fold that is drawing live. (if I am ahead), so you are probably right. However, the up side of the turn raise is that I might get 88-TT to fold--a small, but not insignificant chance. The more I think about it, the more I do not like the turn raise. --Rico |

I'm not sure I really like the 3-bet from the BB in this case, I would've just called in this instance. Maybe I don't 3-bet in blind steal situations enough, but I usually reserve that for pairs 66-JJ, AQ-A8, KQ, KJ, etc type hands.

[/ QUOTE ] I do not casually 3-bet with mediocre hands against blind steals out of the BB but I did in this case b/c: 1. I thought there was a good chance that he was stealing, combined wtih.... 2. He was a decent player, capable of folding postflop. 3. I have position on him. and perhaps, most importantly... 4. If he knows I am going to 3-bet him (especially with mediocre holdings) when he is raising from steal positions, he will not be so inclined to play at my blinds in the future. I am not saying I am right here, just relating why I did it. --Rico |

[ QUOTE ] I make my stand on the flop. [/ QUOTE ] why? I am not saying you are wrong, I just want to know your reasoning. Are you folding the the turn unimproved if he 3-bets the flop? These HU situations are killing me....I suck. --Rico |
