Good fold w/ AK?
Sat down for a while, UTG seems decent, if a little passive. I need help on this kind of hand, where AK misses, I still come out betting, but then I canot beat anything but a stone cold bluff. Anyway, how would you play this? Should I lead the turn and face a reraise, or just check/fold?

Re: Good fold w/ AK?
Checking is tough because villian can bet many hands here such as pocket pairs, flush draws, or even weaker overcards if he senses weakness on your part. You really can't call the turn bet here OOP n a pretty small pot. If he's passive you might consider leading the turn, and folding to a check-raise. You you can then check the river UI. You should get a free showdown unless villian flops a very strong hand on the river. If he bets the river, you must fold then.

Re: Good fold w/ AK?
Becasue the board is so coordinated on the turn, check-fold is fine here. The 4-straight would scare an opponent who has nothing but a draw here, too. A-high isn't betting in to you.
There aren't many card that could come on the turn that don't improve something. But if the board were less scary on the turn, I continue to bet. |
