why bother with full ring?
I'm just asking this question because of so many comments how 6max is a lot more profitable. So what is the proper way when making your way up the limits? Play full ring for a few months, turn into a winning player and then head over to 6max?
Or start at 6max right away? |

Re: why bother with full ring?
the swings at 6max can be pretty severe. Some people just can't handle it.

i play full ring because i don't know how to play 6 max [/ QUOTE ] I'll be honest too, I'm a lousy SH player. My next 3 months are going to be focused on fixing this. Honestly though, full ring games are a little more ABC and easier to analyze. I think people think 6max is better for the wrong reasons, but I'm not going to elaborate here. |

Re: why bother with full ring?
The supposed magical mistakes that all players make are exaggerated(though true). The real reason to play shorthanded is because so much of your profit comes from the lives ones. Playing SH allows you to get into spots with them so much more. This is why you play SH.

Re: why bother with full ring?
Start at the micro limits and work your way up. Play the full games at .5/1 and then play whatever games are available at the higher limits. At 5/10 and 10/20 play 6 max. At 15/30 play full. At 2/4 play full. You have a choice at 1/2 and 3/6, but it really doesn't matter. Just play in the games at whatever stakes you play for and learn poker for all situations.

Re: why bother with full ring?
Yeah, you get to play a lot more hands profitably in 6 max, which results in a higher winrate. Bad players decide that they are allowed to play 60% of their hands because it's shorthanded, when it's correct to play less than 30% (in general). You make money playing good hands against terrible players.
