I just bailed on my first class, 20 minutes in. It was "US Intellectual History, 1865- present". Looked like the most boring [censored] ever, it took the professor 20 minutes to get everyone seated, let us know there were 3 TAs, and tell us his office hours. It was very detailed. Even the syllabus said there was "extensive reading". I dont think that one's for me. He also added a scary bit, "you need to have a good basic understanding of US history to take this class. stuff like, if you know dont know what the New Deal was, maybe you should reconsider or talk to the TA about a good textbook". I go to Columbia.


Then on the way down, I see a flyer entitled "Why You Should Be a Socialist".

yeah im gonna check out a film class tomorrow. its not that i dont do work or cut all my classes, but the bad ones I can't take. the good ones i put effort into and enjoy.


and id definitely rather be in morningside heights than living inbetween two gay bars in the village. but you just cant take yourself seriously when you spend all day complaining about the injustices of society and then drive away in the jetta your daddy bought you.

depends which side of the area. riverside park and drive is really nice. the eastern part is obviously not nice.

i like downtown, but i couldnt live there.

Columbia's campus is awesome. You like it? Very small but enclosed, but once you walk outside the gates you're right back in it again.

yeah, its awesome. most of the kids are brats, but the city is obviously the nuts. i agree about the campus.

its actually the area i grew up in, and im transferring so next year i'll be somewhere else. the upside of being here is that my dad works for the university (not as a professor or in the college) so the bulk tuition is a 100% discount. the downside is... im 2 blocks away from the folks.
