No one has any thoughts?
Standard play? Poorly played? |

You have to raise this preflop to drive out the garbage. They could have anything.

I am not sure if its a big mistake to just check here and see the flop, try for a set, which we know is huge in no limit. I think the other poster might be right, headsup you can bet any flop (represent the overcards if they come) and maybe win the pot. I am not sure which line the experts normally take...
I don't understand why the check-raise on the flop. I think that your hand is vulnerable to overcards, and if this flop gets checked around its a big problem. A lot of times in limit, the toughest thing is to protect your hand, but in no-limit its no problem. I would just make a pot size bet and if someone wants to call, then okay. It seems like you left yourself with 500, right? I think this is good thinking. |

Looking at another post "TT in Early Postition", its seems that early in the game, players are more apt to limp with JJ and TT type hands. The rationale seems to be that winning the blinds isnt that big of a deal early, you want to hit a set, and maybe double up. Similar logic might apply to this BB hand. I am such a newbie at this I maybe totally wrong.

Pot-sized bet on the flop. You didn't hit the set you were hoping for (since you didn't raise pre-flop, that's what you were playing this hand for), but maybe you can get lucky and get everyone to fold. If you are raised, probably fold. If called, you'll have to feel it out from there.

once you got it down to HU vs. the short stack - did you have a read on him? It's early, but was already chopped in half, did he make a bad play or would he be likely to overplay any pair or high cards?
Also - once it was HU on the turn - why not push him all in right there? Why leave him with 70? |

Checking PF is fine. On the flop it makes sense to bet it, maybe over-bet it a little, to see how others react. Your check-raise is a little too big, IMO.
On the turn, you're against a player that has only 270 left, while the pot is already 455. Not much room to manouver, you might as well push against him. And in these limits there's a good chance he'll call you down with hands you beat. However, he won't fold hands that beat you, that's for sure. |

If you limp with middle pair, you're looking to make a set. If you don't hit your set, chances are your hand is no good. You put a lot of money out there on the flop in an unraised pot. I believe you played your overpair much too fast.

With that many plain limps, I'd have massively raised preflop (to something like 100) and fired one bet on any flop before shutting down. But checking's OK, too.
Since you checked, on Party, I think I just bet this and treat a raise as A9 or A7 (because it is, 95%+). A CR is OK but I'd push on the turn against that guy. On UB, the competition is better so I have no idea. |
