Default AQ flops top pair against agression

Villan is slightly laggish over 31 hands at 42/9.7/1.7. The three bet and flop raise make me think AK, but I'm not folding here. Should I reraise the flop? Call the raise and checkraise the turn? Thanks.

I would 3-bet the flop, and call down if capped(against this opponent).

A LAG will raise QQ or KK on this flop.

Why are we betting the flop?

lots of similarities to the recent thread here

flop: looks good, with 3 players I still bet out/call the raise
a case might be made for check/call here.... i'd like to hear what others think about this
turn: check/calls fine
river: check/call looks fine since the flop agg.

Would this be a good time to go call/call/bet?

I wanted to find out where I stood. Would a checkraise do that better.

Getting aggressive (I mean check/raising him in this case) can only be correct if the following apply...

1) He will 3-bet you with hands that have you beat, thus allowing you to fold.

2) He will calldown with hands that you currently are ahead of, thus giving you the maximum pay off.

If 1 and 2 are not met, there is no need to get aggressive in this spot. Let him bet the best hand or let him bet the worst hand.
