Value Bet vs. Spewing
Literally, first hand at live 3/6 game @ Ameristar in KC, MO. Hero is MP with A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
Preflop : Two Limpers, Hero raises, MP2 calls, Button calls, BB calls, and two limpers call. Flop : K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 Checks, Hero Bets, MP2 calls, Button calls, BB calls, one limper calls. Turn: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2 Checks, Hero Bets, only MP2 calls River: J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero bets, MP2 calls. My thinking is that since the size of the pot almost dictates a showdown for me and the villian has been so passive throughout hand, there was more value in betting than check/calling. Comments greatly appreciated. |

Re: Value Bet vs. Spewing
standard. Although in a low limit live game players tend be very passive and the there is a decent chance they won't raise a K here and thus your reads on the table become very important. Readless you are probably safe to keep betting and expect to called by worse Qs and Js and other pairs more often than by Ks.

Re: Value Bet vs. Spewing
You are ahead here more than 50% of the time. Very easy bet.

Re: Value Bet vs. Spewing
There are a few factors to consider here:
How likely is villain to... 1. call with an inferior hand if you bet. 2. bet an inferior hand if you check. 3. raise as a bluff if you bet. 4. to valuebet a pair of kings or better if you check (we have to assume almost 100% here so I won't this into consideration). If 1>2, 2 is big enough for not making check/folding correct and 3 is very small, which I think is a correct assumtion against an unknown, a bet is correct even if you're only ahead ~15%. |

Re: Value Bet vs. Spewing
it's an easy value bet. you're up against a K the majority of the time, but that doesn't matter. villain seems passive. in this game you'll be called by queens, draws that picked up a pair, or worse. if you check, hands that make a weak call are checking behind, while kings and some weaker queens will bet, forcing you to call with the worst of it. so you bet the river yourself.
