First privately owned & operated spacecraft reaches space
SpaceShipOne became the first private-sector spacecraft to reach outer space on Monday.
Link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5261571/?GT1=3584 The ship just barely made it into space (by 408 feet) and didn't stay there long. But, Orville and Wilbur Wright's first flight wasn't spectacular either. |

The Entrepreneur Spirit is doing well. This is good news. I had a model of the X-15 when I was young lad.

Re: First privately owned & operated spacecraft reaches space
What amazed me was that they could do it for a little over $20M. If it had been developed by a military contractor, you'd have to figure it would have cost ten times that at least.

PRIVATELY funded?
You mean no taxpayer dollars were spent on this project?
Wow, the democrats aren't going to like that! (first the Patriots go from the worst stadium in the NFL to the best stadium by building a state-of-the-art facility with no public financing, and now we have a privately funded spaceship. I don't know what this country is coming to...) |
