Re: anyone read mel gibsons comments in the paper?
it's catholic dogma....
technically, most Christian religions (like Lutheran, Methodist) will say if you believe in core doctrines, it's cool which demonination you belong to... cults tend to be very exclusive (Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormans) - if you're not one of us, you're not getting into heaven. Catholicism, unfortunately, sorta falls into that pattern - if you're not part of the Catholic Church, you're not gonna be good enough...hell, if the pope decides you don't get communion, you can be kicked out of heaven... - so all he's doing is speaking offical Catholic Church doctrine...that's what they really believe and teach... I will assume that since you said this your not Catholic, thus I will assume you know little of the faith. Mel Gibson follows a very strict version of Catholism, one which is not ver popular. This strict version of Catholism does not acknowledge any reform in the church after 1967(year may be a little off). These strict catholics still do mass in Latin. don't generalize Catholics. |
