Re: fishy?
Why bet the flop? You have third pair with a weak kicker. Your gutshot draw is almost worthless because you have the ignorant end, using only one card from your hand.
Now when you pick up trips on the turn, you have a hand. Why check and give a str8 draw a free card (especially since we are assuming loose passive players)? Looks like UTG might be a little aggressive; in which case, going for a check/raise makes since here. So, raise the man. If he has a made str8, he will let you know. This will save you from a tough decision on the river. If he raises you back, you are done. If he calls, check to him and call anything up to 1/2 the pot. JMHO of course. |

Re: fishy?
I like the flop bet, but only because you're 5 handed... chances of a 49 or 9T in 4 other hands are pretty low.
Then, either bet or CR the turn. Since it looks like UTG is aggressive, a CR may be the way to go. |

Re: fishy?
But chances of a A8, A6, K8, K6, T8, 98, 87, 86, 76, 65, & 64 are reasonable and all are ahead of our hero.

Any raise and I muck, and I'm probably not going to lead out the turn, unless I think the other players are weak. But, it's potentially a cheap way to get hands that beat me out - not TPTK, certainly, but possibly a weak kicker or a second pair... Of course, I love to semibluff, so it fits well into my style. |

Re: fishy?
I wouldn't qualify drawing to the ignorant end of a gutshot which will only use one card from your hand as a "reasonable" chance of becoming the best hand.

Re: fishy?
That's some negative implied odds if I've ever seen them. The flop bet is bad. It's a check/fold in my game every time. Raise the turn and fold to a re-raise/push. Your hand is just not that strong and you have to accept it.
