Re: Best Actress in a TV Series, All Time
Exactly what I opened the thread to say. Shelly Long is fantastic in that show. She's my favorite female comedic actress and I think easily one of the very best of the century. Carol Burnett is funnier, but Shelly Long's acting was amazing. That one scene at the beginning of the show's run when Sam(before they emasculated him and made him an idiot fawning over Rebecca) outsmarts her and awes her with his description of the color of her eyes being something he only remembers seeing once in his life, and thought he would never see again...I was howling with laughter at the way she responded, and I still laugh thinking about it like a dozen years since the last time I saw it. She was friggin flawless as a comedic actress.
Cloris Leachman, in "Phyllis" and THe Mary Tyler Moore Show was pretty amazingly talented too. |
