Cold Call KK (offshoot of coldcalling AA) 15/30
Party 15/30
decent (read: reasonable) player raises UTG+1 all fold to me on the button. i got charlemagne and david(for those who have read richard epstein's theory of gambling and statistical logic--for those who havn't, King David is the Ks and Charlemagne is the Kh) and i make it 3. blinds fold 8s6s4h flops. he bets i raise he 3bets i cap (?) turn K, check bet call. river 4. check bet call. i think i cost myself bets but on the flop i was thinking if an overcard to his likely pair (99-QQ, very unlikely AA) hits then itll kill the action and i'll miss out on .5 small bets. what about cold calling preflop and giving up that .5 sb's for a turn play? its a small fraction of bets here in the l-r but is it worth it? -Barron |

Re: Cold Call KK (offshoot of coldcalling AA) 15/30
Heads-up with position on a rags flop, calling rather than raising the 3bet is very viable against a thinking opponent. This means he is very likely to lead the turn and you get .5SB more that way if he calls down, potentially more than that.
I would have called three on the flop and led the turn, it's even easier to play that way since you have Ks. |

[ QUOTE ]
what about cold calling preflop and giving up that .5 sb's for a turn play? [/ QUOTE ] pflop: 3 bet btf is important. u want to play against a likely big (not as big as yours) hand alone. in addition, you don't mind the dead money in the pot. flop: i also like to reveal strengh right away, the added benefit is that this play provides some cover for sometimes u actually play this way with over cards or a good draw. maybe if i were out of position, i'd bet and call a raise on the flop and hope to check/raise the turn, still, it is not my favorite trick.
