Default Re: a hand !

Hello,

Unless the other play is a total maniac, I see no reason not to put him on a set. When the board pairs on the river, I would rarely raise more than one time.

With a four bet cap online, I may be more inclined to put in another raise, but it seems obvious that the other play was not afraid of the flush on the river--against a weak opponent, calling his three bet would have been fine; against a better opponent, check calling is the best play, and against the weakest of opponents, I would put in the 4 bets.

I don't see any reason to slow down until the board pairs though.

You had the nut flush, he kept betting into you, what did you think he had? If he didn't have a smaller flush, the only likely explanation is a set, I think you have to slow down after the board pairs on the river.

In the small stakes forum, you usually get better responses if you post a narrative, instead of hand histories. Also, .50/1.00 hands should be posted in the microlimits forum.

Some people just play their own hand. He had top set, he kept betting. Sort of like what you did on the river.

I don't think he played it that poorly. He's ahead of all hands except for a flopped flush, and has about a 1/3 chance to turn or river a boat even if he's behind. He probably figures you for something like K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] - an overpair with a four flush - and wants to get his bets in while he's still "ahead".

He should have stopped one bet sooner on the turn; you should have stopped one bet sooner on the river.
