Default Advice please

Think this is more of a no limit question than a tourney one so I posted it here.
I'm a solid low limt player who right now is carrying a reputation in among the low limit games as a tight ultra agressive player. Last week I bought into a $25.00 buy in freeze out no limit tourney. Got kinda funny looks from a few of the known bigger limit guys (see a few of them at the final table of every no limit tourney in the city), who know my reputation. Finished eigth got an invite back to the next tourney in the series this week.
My question however is this, I found that I was missing a few pots, but even more bets in pots that I was in because I underestimated kicker strength etc... I'm think this is a result of my usual tight play, and posibly ended up finishing me when I couldn't keep up to the riseing blinds. Any sugestions from some of the no limit players in here as to how I can squeze out a few bets with out getting caught over playing a potentialy dangerous hand.
