Default Silver Coins Still in Circulation (U.S.)

The lady hands me my change today, and I knew I had a silver quarter without even looking.

It amazes me that there are still silver coins in circulation, quarters particularly, since they have such a distinctive sound and look (around the edge, dimes too).

there arent any in circulation. they have all been weeded out. what you probably found was a coin that came from a burglary by kids. then they spent the coins which were someones silver. unless this happened in some other country.

Very insightful Ray.

In the mid 60's, when I was a little boy, I took one of the old silver dollars which my father had gifted to me and bought candy with it at the little store on the way home from school.

It wasn't long after that that I realized the foolish mistake I made. I always had contempt for the merchant that took the silver, who had otherwise always been nice to us kids.
