Default A hand where I three bet the turn with TPGK

5/10 UB, villan is a bit passive pre-flop, taggish post-flop. No dummy.

2 limpers, I raise QJs in LP, BB calls, limpers call.

Flop come 36T. All check to me, I bet, BB folds, villan calls, others fold.

Turn: Q. Villan checks, I bet, villan raises, I three-bet....

I would have thought you would hear from a Ten on the flop. Especially since villian had good position to get HU.

A bit passive PF could limp KQ. I guess I could see doing a CR with 88 or 99 here, but if I were the villian I think the Q would freeze me. I hate always seeing sets everywhere, but it fits the bill of that type of hand or a bigger Q.

That said I am not hating your line as long as you can lay down to a cap. I myself am calling down. Becuase here is a situation I hate, what if he calls the turn... then river donks you... I hate that. Puts you in a position where you are having to really consider folding a showdownable hand in what is now a big pot (that you created with your 3-bet).

If you can resolve to fold unimproved on the river and fold to a turn cap, then I think it is just OK. But I would just call it down..expecting to lose (as a matter of fact there are player types that I fold this to on the turn).

I'd fold to a cap, but call a river donk bet.

In retrospect, I'm not liking this as much now as I did when I did it , but I think there's a good concept here.

I don't really like it. I think you will get c/r on this turn at least as often if not more by better hands. A 3-bet also gives him an excuse to fold a ten while he will likely keep betting a ten on the river if you just call his c/r.

Yeah, I do too, in retrospect. I do think there are spots to 3 bet the turn with top pair though, and it comes after you make a flop bet after missing, and get c/r'd on the turn when you hit.
