What did he have?
Party Poker
Full ring game. .25/.50 blinds Villian is aggressive and has me covered. No other information is available. I have $52 Dealt 9-9 on the button. 2 callers (MP1 & MP2) folded to me I raise to $3 Villian, in SB mini-raises me to $5.50 BB, MP1 & MP2 all fold. I call (Pot: $12.50) Flop: 10-7-4 (rainbow) I check (I should have led out and bet here, but I wanted to see what he was going to do) He bets $9.25 I fold Was my mistake not betting on the flop? Did I make a decent laydown? Or did I mess it up from beginning to end? Thoughts appreciated. |

Re: What did he have?
I'd probably just limp with 99 after other limpers and play it for set value.
Also you can't check first from the button...the SB acted first I think you have your action or position wrong. |

Re: What did he have?
You're on the button, right? Check means you checked behind him and saw the turn. ???
I would bet $10 on the flop if he checked. He could have missed with AK or AQ. |

Jesus.
You are right. He led into me. Sorry for the confusion. |

Re: What did he have?
Well this is a tougher spot. At best, you're against AK or AQ and he's trying to steal. He could also have any over pair, TT, 44, or 77. I'm assuming villain covers you. It's either raise (play back at him) or fold. Seems like there's more of a chance you're behind, so I probably fold and wait for a better spot.

Re: What did he have?
I know I botched this posting. Sorry for wasting everyones time.
I should know not to talk on the phone (work related) and try remembering a hand from the night before. Anyways, the Villian showed me A-9 and took down the pot with Ace high. The hand makes me wonder whether I should have raised on the flop when he bet into me. Would anyone raise here? Is that too balsy, considering the betting pattern? |

The problem with that is your hand has little chance of improving. Also, a raise will probably commit you. I think I still fold, though. You can wait for a better opportunity to trap him. |

Re: What did he have?
If I haven't seen people min-reraise preflop before, I play the rest of the hand like they have AA after the min-reraise.

[/ QUOTE ] WARNING - That is results oriented thinking.....Your fold in that situation was correct(though a raise would not have been a horrible play).......He gave you some information, use it to crush him next time |
