Harrington Play Styles
In Harrington's book he specifies 3 playing styles.
Super aggressive Aggressive Conservative In a tournament full of pros and decent players that can fold hands I can see all 3 possible. BUT... What about the not so big tournaments full of calling stations and unbluffable players. We got a $200 tournament over here in Fort Lauderdale that the Indians hold. I usually play a conservative style till close to the money then I loosen up because everyone is trying to get the $$$. Is it possible to play Super aggresive in these these types of tournaments early on? Most of the field is really really bad. http://www.texasholdempoker-stats.com/ |

Re: Harrington Play Styles
In an Indian casino tourney early on playing aggressively is a recipe for disaster. Players will not fold. Most are
clueless to pot odds. An Indian casion tourney is analagous to a $10 rebuy Stars event. I would typically play more hands, but I would not try to run over the table. I would be playing Axs, pocket pairs, and suited connectors with position. I would not push first hand with AKs and get busted by a call with pocket Ducks. You need to diffentiate between aggressiveness and recklessness. Bruce |

Re: Harrington Play Styles
Yup thats how I play. I didn't figure that SUPER AGGRESSIVE style would work. Aggresive style maybe, but thats pushing it. You don't know how many times I make a great move, the other player acknowledges I have him beat and BELIEVES ME and still calls the last big bet. They are pretty bad.
Although there are a few players who do play loose, calling with 2 face suited, any pair, any Axs, NOT in position and they will also call a raise with it. I usually see them with large stacks that fluctuate. They play well after the flop but it seems they are getting so lucky hitting their QTs calling a large PF raise being a 3:1 underdog. Implied odds when they hit? |
