Have you any idea at all how many words, terms and phrases find their way into the English language from all walks of life (Yiddish, military, gay, sports, showbiz, etc etc) without time-wasting anal retentive posters drawing our attention to the fact ?

Why? Its called Short hand.

The reason we say USA is because its easier then writing United States of America.
