UTG Push
Here's the scenario:
PokerStars Game #1539023038: Tournament #7092309, Hold'em No Limit - Level VII (100/200) - 2005/04/17 - 14:58:35 (ET) Table '7092309 1' Seat #7 is the button Seat 1: Ryguy0907 (1576 in chips) Seat 3: AnyGlen (1546 in chips) Seat 7: Lars18 (7348 in chips) Seat 8: jeskola (3030 in chips) Ryguy0907: posts the ante 25 AnyGlen: posts the ante 25 Lars18: posts the ante 25 jeskola: posts the ante 25 jeskola: posts small blind 100 Ryguy0907: posts big blind 200 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to AnyGlen [3c As] AnyGlen:..... Thoughts on the correct play? I opted to open-push. I'm somewhat shortstacked and I figured that the two people in the blinds would probably play very tightly to avoid busting. Of course, the downside of this play is that if I get called, I'm probably behind. I'm plagued by doubts that I might just be a moron... My bubble play is still pretty weak, especially with a short stack, so I'm hoping to get some advice. |

Re: UTG Push
You can't really be a moron on this hand folding or pushing. I think it is a pretty close call.
I just bought Eastbay's SNG Powertools and your $EV folding is $15.00. If you put them on a fairly tight calling ranges you get about $16 for pushing. They have to be pretty loose for it to not be a good push, but it does get fairly close. I like pushing here, especially because the big stack is out of the blinds. In fact, if they are reasonably tight it is almost as good a push with 23o as it is with A3o. |
