A 9 offsuit in ep - how would you play?
Down to six in a 20 person MTT on PP. Where did I go wrong here? Is this unavoidable? Maybe I didn't raise enough pre-flop?

You could've folded preflop, for starters.

A9 at a six handed table that is playing relatively tight and not seeing many flops? This seemed like a perfect steal opportunity. I definetly didn't want a call here but wanted to be able to get away from it if I was re-raised. Do you think I really should've folded an A9 shorthanded?

Re: A 9 offsuit in ep - how would you play?
I'm not a fan of weak offsuit aces, especially in early position. It's an easily dominated hand, especially if you raise preflop and are called. Say an ace flops, what do you do? You bet out? What if he calls, what's your turn play if you don't improve? Hard to know what the opponent has, he could be on a draw, or he could have a better ace, or he could have second pair, or he could be slowplaying two pair. Well you have to bet out again, otherwise he'll bet and put you in a real uncomfortable spot. But you won't like it. What if he just raises your flop bet? You have top pair, but how good is it really? Offsuit aces are a bitch. I will, however, sometimes play them from CO or button for a raise, depending on my mood.
