risking chips with slight edge
Is this a good play? I don't care about the results but it seems like this kind of situation has been coming up alot lately. Villain had be raising alot, he was very aggressive. I was confident I had him beat. I really didn't expect him to call but he did. Is it worth risking basically the SnG on this type of hand? I was in fairly comfortable chip position before this hand and didn't need to make this move. I guess what I was trying to do was a) gain more chips for a better shot at first b) make villain think twice about raising, especially my BB

Re: risking chips with slight edge
Having made exactly this same mistake tonight with AT and called by the 'big stack bully' who had A7, who promptly hit two pair, I'd say you should just flat call. He's not going to fold this preflop with almost half his stack in, I'm afraid, but if you stop-and-go him he just might.

Re: risking chips with slight edge
ya i guess it was a large portion of his stack. what if he had a 4,000 chip stack? would that make my move more justifiable?

[/ QUOTE ] I think if he has you outchipped, it would make your push even more unjustifiable, not more justifiable. On the bubble you have to give up alot of hands when someone raises in front of you. This concept is discussed all the time on this forum. The only thing that makes your push marginally OK, is that if you call and lose, you still will have about half the stack of the 3rd place stack. Of course, with the blinds at this level, you will pretty much be in panic stage if you lose. I'd bet most folks on this forum would say fold this pre-flop to the raise. The low stack is just praying that something like this will happen so he can get ITM. |
