Help with purchasing a laptop?

Hi. I'm looking to buy a lightweight laptop - five pounds or less - and I'm hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction.

The computer I'm using now is a Compaq Presario 2596US, 2.4G, 704RAM, 15" screen. It's fine, except it's slightly too heavy (right around 8 pounds, I think), and it's getting buggy. (I probably need to do a clean reinstall, but I've been too lazy to do it yet.)

Also, it runs super-hot, for some reason.

I figure having a backup isn't a bad idea for me, considering how much I rely on this thing.

I'm looking for something at least as powerful as what I have now, and I'd like to spend as little as possible (naturally), preferably less than $1500.

Dell has two systems that almost fit my specs.

Unfortunately, the 600m has a smaller screen (14.1), and the Latitude model lacks a video card. (It has integrated graphics - which I'm told - I should stay away from).

Any help at all would be appreciated.
