Cheating follow-up
I was thinking about Danny's post below and I have a hypothetical question. If you notice, as he says, that all the 5s are marked (presumably you are playing hi-lo Stud), is it cheating or unethical to keep quiet and just use the information - after all you didn't mark them. I would say it was unethical but not cheating. However, what if you decide to use the information only against the person whom you suspect marked the cards ? He doesn't know that you know where the fives are too so you are one level up in your knowledge if you see what I mean. I suggest that this would be neither cheating nor unethical. However it would in practice be difficult to "pretend" not to know that an innocent opponent has a 5 when you can "see" it. Comments welcome, Andy. |

Re: Cheating follow-up
It was hi-lo, but I wasn't sure who did it. I had 3 suspects in mind though! I knew they where marked and I waited a few rounds before I pointed it out. Not to gain an advantage, but to see if I could spot the culprit. One hand, I'm ashamed to say won me some money. I've never accused another player of cheating because I've never actually seen someone mark em up. Even if I saw someone mark cards, I wouldn't tell the table, I'd tell the floor. It would be useless to complain at the table. Just cause a lot of tension. I wouldn't be able to use this knowledge, because the cheaters know I'm on to em. But maybe some other posters can gain an advantage, if they can, GO FOR IT! But the better course of action is to point out the fingernail mark in the middle of the card and call the floor!! SETUP!!!!! PLEASE!!!!! that is all, dannyboy ) |

Re: Cheating follow-up
I was playing at one of the local casino's here in the Pheonix area a few weeks ago when I was dealt a warped card. It turned out to be an Ace. The next hand I noticed I had another warped card. It turned out to be a different Ace. Turns out that all of the Aces were warped and two of the Kings. I though that before I said anything, I would try to notice what other player might be noticing the warped cards, but didn't see anything unusual in any of the players. A few minutes later there was a dealer change. The new dealer was one that I know pretty well, so while he was waiting for the last hand to finish before he entered the box, I stood up and whispered to him what I'd noticed. He waited a hand or two to verify my claim, then he asked for a setup. When the setup came, he said very loudly to the person bringing the setup, "the Aces are warped in this deck". I think that put the guilty person on notice because I didn't see any problems after that. JohnnyD |
