Re: Concealed pair in middle limit stud
I would think that the more important question is what kind of player is player 2? Is he likely to be pushed out of the hand if you re-raise? You want to play this hand heads up against the original raiser; if he has a pair of kings you increase your chances of winning by being heads up, if he doesn't and u can outplay him, u gain control of the hand. If you are sure the other player will call a raise from you, I would just call and go for a checkraise on 4th street. What do you think? (Be easy, I'm learning) =) Jeff |

By the way....
Since when have you started playing 20-40, that is quite a jump in limits for you. Didn't you say your room didn't spread games that high? Jeff |

Re: Concealed pair in middle limit stud
You must be joking. You cannot call a full bet with 77 and a 7 showing. You do not even have an overcard. You must fold. It is not even close. |

Re: Concealed pair in middle limit stud
It's an easy fold. Don't play dead cards in stud. |

Re: Concealed pair in middle limit stud
If your sevens were live (as Ray proposes) it's either a raise or fold. And if Q and K both call, get ready to fold on 4th if you don't improve. A live 2-flush would be helpful in deciding to stay in. |

Re: Concealed pair in middle limit stud
If the bring in was a six and the P3 is loose agressive, I would reraise. It should get it heads up with the king or you win the pot immediately if he was on a steal. I would prefer that I also had a 2 flush. You will be able to act last throughout the hand unless you catch an Ace, which should make your opponent throw away his cards. If the P3 is tight aggressive, I would throw my hand away for the full bet. We don't know what the Q up is going to do and we could be reraised by the K. I also don't like the position I'm in being sandwiched between the K and Q if I just call. I don't like a raise because I don't know if I blow out the Q. Assuming he knows the K is Tight he must have some sort of legitimate hand to play in order to have limped. |
