7cs8 4 and 5 card lows
A four card low (eg. 2,4,5,7) on 4th street has a 71% chance of completing an eight low or bettor by the river (ref. Planet Poker stats.) Statistic- cally then, a board four card low (eg. 2,4,5,7 for an opponents board) has a 29% chance of not being a completed low on at showdown. This all ignores exposed cards and playing style. Also, if an you start with a three card low (eg. 2,4,5) and catch low on 4th and 5th for an apparent made low, it's only 40% likely you haven't paired. |

Re: 7cs8 4 and 5 card lows
I've seen cases where a pair on the board has folded to a single bet on the river by a board four card low. Unless the pot is small, I believe this is a mistake heads-up on the river. Also, their is so little informatiom available on 7cs8, compared to the major types of poker, I see nothing wrong with throwing out a stat or two in hopes of getting some kind of discussion going. |
