Default 5 player SNGs

I started up at Pacific yesterday to bonus whore some books. I found they had cheap SNGs with 10% rake so I decided to play some SNGs for the first time.

They had some 5 player SNGs so I played 2 and got first in both (super easy even with 0 experiance).

My question is with these SNGs with the same 50%-30%-20% pay schedual are they good for decreasing variance? Are they much less profitable?

Seems to me that for learning they are good because assuming even skill level I have a 60% chance of breaking even ( minus the rake) or better.

Thanks for the input.
