How horrible a mistake is it to play my top pair, weak kicker so hard on the flop? The idea was to freeze out a draw and perhaps getting kq to fold. Maybe i should have raised more and committed. Folding on the turn felt like mandatory, I couldn't beat anything. Should i have bet the flop right away? I didn't really put anyone on aq since there was no preflop raise.

Thanks for comments.

For what its worth. I frequently limp AQ and KQ suited or not in NL games from every position.

Withe those stacks you can make a case for check folding the flop. Or bet $5.00 and shut down if called. You dont have a bunch of money and neither does he and you really don't have a hand that I like to dump any kind of money into a pot with. But Hey its Party, he could have 83o right?

I think that checking and folding to a decent bet here is probably the right thing to do. Many people will limp pf with AQ KQ QJ QTs. Your jack kicker is probably no good here. Villian could also be holding KJ...
